Trainer Profile

Moloney Racing

John Moloney  secured his training license in 1981.  Married to Sue, they have two children Josh and Gabrielle.  Currently, John has 24 horses in the stable and is always on the lookout to increase the horse population of Moloney Racing.

John’s philosophy in training is “to keep horses in the easiest company as possible to keep them winning, placement is integral and instils ongoing confidence for the horse”.

John also guides and educates a young apprentice “Brenton Advulla” who is currently one of the leading apprentices in Victoria.   Brenton is gaining considerable attention attracting many rides outside the stable as he is displaying great ability and discipline.

John believes there are three key ingredients of success for young  riders;  dedication, application and hard work!  Throw in a touch of skill and horsemanship and then another serve of dedication and you have the next champion jockey.  John grew up with a number of apprentices who were under his fathers guidance, many went on to be highly successful at their craft and continue to be in all facets of the Industry, it comes as no surprise that he now has his own recipe to pass onto young riders of the future.

It is little wonder that John is fast becoming one of the leading trainers in Australia, with over 30 years experience in the Industry, and a “Master of the craft” in his father supporting him all the way. Many refer to  John as “the Professional” because of his ability to train horses is second to none, he communicates with people at all levels with the utmost respect and has a humbleness that so many admire.
