Bromes Gets The Nod At Ararat
Apr 20, 2020
Bromes made the trip up the Western Highway worthwhile for connections on Saturday, taking out the 1600m Bob Barr Smith 0-58 Handicap with jockey, Jarrod Fry, in the saddle.
Coming off the back of a sound second placing the start before at Werribee on a Heavy 10, where he was given every chance by Fry, the Big Brown gelding appreciated being back "on top of the ground" at Ararat on the Good surface.
Settling in the box seat in transit, the four-year-old only had the leader, Go Ballistic, to chase down once he pulled off his back at the top of the straight. The two gallopers raced away from the rest of the field, with Bromes managing to stick his nose out right on the line.
Adversary headed to Terang on Sunday to contest the Westmeath BM70 Handicap over 1400m. The Makfi gelding produced an eye-catching run from back in the field to finish second, suggesting that a win isn't far away for the four-year-old.
Congratulations to the Shannon Family and all of the hardworking staff at Moloney Racing!
