Hearcomesthestar scored an impressive victory at Geelong on Saturday, taking out the $100,000 Fillies & Mares BM70 Handicap over 1400 metres with Beau Mertens in the saddle delivering a perfect ride.
Settling down one-out-one-back in transit, the four-year-old Zoustar Mare enjoyed every bit of her step-up in distance, letting down a billowing stride down the outside on straightening, stretching down her head on the line to score by a long neck.
Having been right in the finish at her past three starts since her win at Kyneton in November, it was a deserved win for Hearcomesthestar who now has four wins from sixteen starts, and having amassed over $200,000 in prize money for her connections.
