Legatus recorded back-to-back wins in impressive fashion on Sunday at Werribee, proving too strong in the finishing stages over the 2720 metre staying course.

Settling in his favourite role at the tail of the field with Teo Nugent in the saddle, Legatus got a beautiful cart into the race three-wide from the half-mile mark and put pay to his rivals in the straight to record a comfortable win by 0.75 lengths.

Following his win at Moe last start in similar fashion over 2400 metres, the 6-year-old Preferment gelding took no shaking going up in class, relishing the extra distance to record his sixth-career-win in the BM64 Handicap.

Congratulations to the connections of Legatus and all of the team at Moloney Racing!
