Legatus continued his brilliant record at 2000 meters on Friday at Seymour with an eye-catching win with Teo Nugent in the saddle.

Following his impressive maiden win at Cranbourne back in May over the same distance, the now four-year-old Preferment gelding was sent for a good break to develop and mature, and after Friday’s fourth-up effort, he promises to have the class to go through his grades at staying trips.

Given a terrific ride from Nugent, Legatus settled down one-out-one-back in transit and showed tremendous fight to overcome a bump on straightening, digging deep to get his nose in front on the line.

The Moloney Racing team continues to fire, with Legatus’s victory the fourth win for the stable in the space of three weeks. We look forward to seeing Legatus continue his form this preparation following his promising return to the winner’s stall.

Congratulations to all connections, and well done to the hard-working team at Moloney Racing!
