Carlisle is making a habit of popping up unexpectedly, with a brilliant first-up win at Sandown Hillside on Saturday at $31 odds, continuing a string of double-figure odds winners for the four-year-old son of So You Think.
Lucky to even start in the race after a floating mishap on the way to the races where he took some skin off his head, Carlisle certainly took no physical harm from the incident, and even though a shock to punters, he performed up to the expectations of the team.
Despite having gone into the 1300 metre race first-up without a trial or jump out under his belt, John was quietly confident that Carlisle would take beating after his work on the Tuesday morning leading into the race.
Settling down three-wide in the second half of the field, jockey Jarrod Fry brought Carlisle to the outside on straightening and he let down with a barn-storming finish to win by 0.5L in terrific fashion.
Carlisle promises to have an exciting preparation ahead of him as he gets over further ground, and is sure to continue adding to his impressive CV of 6 wins from 16 starts, and over $300,000 in prize money,
Congratulations to Julie Sampson and Meridy Taite, and all of the team at Moloney Racing.
