Two-year-old Hearcomesthestar unleashed an impressive debut win at Sandown Hillside on Wednesday, with champion jockey Damien Oliver in the saddle.
With the surprise late scratchings of two starters at the barriers, the Zouster filly started the hot-priced favourite amongst the field of six runners in the Ladbroke It! Maiden Plate over 1000 metres.
Standing in the barriers for a long time before they jumped, and then finding herself posted three-wide in transit on the Heavy 9 track, Hearcomesthestar managed to overcome all odds to come down the outside and win by half-a-length on the line.
A $150,000 purchase from the Widden Stud draft at the 2022 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale, Hearcomesthestar is now the second winner from as many to race from the Group 3 winner Hear The Chant (by Nicconi).
We can’t wait to see this talented filly progress through her grades, and hopefully a Spring campaign is imminent for her connections.
