Legionnaire brought up his second win of his preparation on Sunday at Yarra Valley, continuing his successful partnership with 3kg claiming apprentice Shanae O’Meara.

Jumping from barrier 6 from the 1200 metre start, O’Meara positioned the Stratum gelding outside the leader on the hot speed, and he kept going through the line, proving too classy in the final 200 metres to career away and win by 1.5 lengths.

O’Meara, who is on loan to the Moloney Racing stable, brought up her 6th career win on Legionnaire after outriding her 4 kilogram claim on him at his first-up win 5 starts ago.

A stakes winner as a three-year-old, Legionnaire is continuing his solid form this preparation, coming off the back of a third placing at Sandown last start and a second placing prior to that at Colac.

His ultra tough win on Sunday only highlights the potential of plenty more success to come for Legionnaire in the near future.

A big congratulations to Julie and Meridy, and all of the hard working team at Moloney Racing!
