Well-bred filly, Pure, claimed her maiden victory at Stony Creek on Wednesday for trainer, John Moloney, and stable rider, Patrick Moloney.

A half-sister to Group-1 winning, Flying Artie, Pure, having her eleventh start in a race, relished the soft track at her first-up run this preparation over 1100m, finally showcasing the talent that she has previously shown at home in her training.

A pre-race plan by trainer and jockey to swing wide in the home straight to find better going, paid off successfully for the team.

After settling the filly back in the field, Moloney tracked into the race four-wide with cover from the 600m meter mark, before steering towards the outside fence on straightening, to hit the line first in a grueling, head-bobbing finish.

With an expectation that she will only improve over more ground, the three-year-old by Pierro looks set for a great preparation ahead after her tough and honest win.

Congratulations to the Shannon family, and to all the staff at Moloney Racing!
