Black Opal did exactly what you would hope a short-priced favourite would do at Geelong on Sunday, blitzing the field in a dominant 2.8 length win with Moloney Racing apprentice Tayla Childs in the saddle.

Sent straight to the front to sprint along in his favourite role over the 1125 metre distance, Black Opal was aided by a well-rated ride by Childs, utilising her two kilogram claim on the top weight to her advantage in the Heavy conditions.

With 4 wins and another 11 placings from 31 starts, the 6-year-old Statue Of Liberty gelding continues to be a terrific money spinner for connections, and he will always be a special horse to Childs who has now notched two wins aboard the speedy galloper, after having her first race ride on him in April last year.

Congratulations to all connections and well done to all of the team at Moloney Racing!
