Black Opal and Tayla Childs continued their unassailable run at Traralgon on Sunday, winning by an easy 2 length margin in the BM64 Handicap over 1100 metres, following their dominant win when stepping out a short-priced favourite at Geelong a fortnight ago.

Jumping straight to the front and into the Statue of Liberty gelding’s favourite role once again, the duo controlled things to suit them and looked never in doubt once Black Opal kicked away at the 200 metre mark.

After starting a $1.55 favourite the start prior at Geelong on a wet track in weaker grade, the six-year-old proved he wasn’t just a soft track specialist when he was sent out at odds of 10-1 and bolted in on the Good 4 surface.

Childs once again rated Black Opal to perfection and demonstrated how valuable her 2kg provincial claim is, marking a special occasion for the whole team to go out a winner with our last Caulfield-trained runner.

Congratulations to all connections and all of the hard working team at Moloney Racing! We look forward to plenty of success in the future from our new Cranbourne stables.
