Black Opal proved too strong in the wet conditions on Saturday at Werribee, leading from start to finish to take out the Cor Cordis 0-58 Handicap over 1100m.

Rarely running a bad race in his twelve race starts to date, the Statue Of Liberty gelding looks to be in for a promising winter, after notching his second win, with both having been on softer tracks.

Steered by Jarrod Fry, the four-year-old showed his usual early speed to take up the lead, swimming through the Heavy 10 track condition to win by a long neck on the line.

Black Opal’s win was the icing on the cake for Team Moloney on Saturday, with Bromes returning to form with a second placing earlier in the day at Werribee, and Fine Dane running a strong, albeit luckless, third at Caulfield.
