Three-year-old Brillant Sapphire broke through for her maiden win in strong fashion on Sunday at Sale, continuing what has been a dream run for the stable since our move to Cranbourne at the end of November, with 4 winners in less than 3 weeks.

Jumping from barrier one over the 1106 metre distance, jockey Teo Nugent was able to hold the Deep Field filly’s position on the fence, sitting just off the leaders, before cutting the corner on straightening and producing a strong run to the line to win by just under a length.

Lucky to stay on her feet after copping a bad check at her first-up run at Mornington, Brillant Sapphire managed to stay out of trouble and get the job done for connections on Sunday.

We hope that with new found confidence this filly will now be able to continue to go through her grades, after being quite consistent in her efforts at her five runs to date.

Congratulations to her owners, John and Paul Shannon, and all of the team at Moloney Racing!
