Charisse broke through for an impressive maiden win at her third race start at Cranbourne on Friday night, with Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle.

Jumping away quickly from the outside barrier, Stackhouse allowed the 4-year-old Churchill mare to come back off the hot tempo and settle beautifully in her comfort zone, midfield and one-off-the-fence in the early stages of the 1400 metre race. Tracking into the race three-wide from the 800 metre mark, Charisse showed a brilliant turn-of-foot in the straight, flying down the outside to win by 2.25 lengths.

With an eye-catching and albeit unlucky run at her first start at Sandown Lakeside in July over the same distance, Charisse was perfectly primed for her first-up run by Gerard, getting the job done in fine fashion. We can’t wait to see her continue to progress throughout this preparation.

Congratulations to Charisse’s connections and all of the hard working team at Moloney Racing!
