Brillant Sapphire brought up her second career win at Stony Creek on Tuesday in the BM58 Fillies & Mares Handicap, aided by an astute ride from Moloney Racing apprentice Tayla Childs.
Showing superb initiative to take a sit off the good speed after intending to lead, Childs settled Brillant Sapphire down one-out-one-back over the 1100m distance, before obtaining clear running 200 metres out and driving her to the line in the concluding stages to get up by a long head.
The three-year-old Deep Field filly has now notched 2 wins from 8 starts for her connections John and Paul Shannon, and hopefully she can continue to go through her grades for the Shannon Family.
