Fine Dane bounced back into winning form at Sandown on the Hillside track on Wednesday, scoring an impressive win in the 1000 metre BM84 Handicap, with Patrick Moloney in the saddle.

It was the Danerich gelding’s 5th career win from 31 starts, ending a frustrating run of hard-luck stories, and numerous placings, since his last win back in October of 2019.

Fine Dane was astutely placed by John Moloney in Wednesday’s race, and coming off a four week freshen-up after a lacklustre first-up run at Flemington in July.

Superbly rated by Patrick, the 6-year-old bounced into his trademark on-speed role from barrier 1, travelling second on the fence in transit. Sticking hard to the rails on the home turn, Fine Dane let down with a great finish to get up on the inside of the leader, Sir Kalahad, to win by a length.

It was an exciting result for all of the Moloney Racing team, and we hope that with renewed confidence from his performance on Wednesday, Fine Dane can continue to excel throughout this campaign.

Congratulations to all connections, and the team at Moloney Racing!
