Imperial Lad continued his unbelievably consistent form on Friday night at Moonee Valley, leading all the way to score an impressive win over 1500 metres in the last race on Manikato Stakes night.

The relatively lightly raced 5-year-old was on a nine day back up from Caulfield last Wednesday-week, where he ran a brave second over 1400 metres with star jockey Linda Meech in the saddle.

Meech again took the reins at The Valley, jumping straight to the front from barrier two, the All Too Hard gelding was able to bowl along at his favourite tempo, and produced a fabulous turn of foot to kick away from his rivals and score by 2.5 lengths with his ears pricked on the line.

An $80K purchase from the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Imperial Lad has now notched 7 wins and 14 placings from 29 starts, and over $400,000 in prize money, continuing to be a dream horse for connections and the stable.

John will continue putting Imperial Lad through his grades, and has earmarked what looks like an ideal race over a mile on the final day of the Flemington carnival.

The way in which he ran through the line on Friday, there are no doubts that Sharkie (as he is affectionately known as at home) will get 1600 metres, and he has come through his race on Friday night superbly.

Congratulations to all of Sharkie’s connections, as well as all of the Moloney Racing team.
