Imperial Lad capped off what was an incredible 2020/2021 racing season for Moloney Racing, scoring back-to-back wins in the last race of the season at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
In true “Sharkie” style, the All Too Hard gelding went out a well-supported favourite in the BM70 Handicap over 1200 metres, and showed incredible heart to hold off the second place-getter, Rock Tycoon, in what was an almighty duel between the two to the line, to win by a lip in a photo finish.
Ridden by in-form apprentice, Alana Kelly, who took 3kg off his allocated 63.5kg, Sharkie went straight to the front from barrier 4, and cruised along at his favourite tempo, before finding another kick when it mattered in the later stages of the race, bringing up his sixth-career win from 24 starts.
Sharkie continues to make the whole team proud, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in the new racing season as a 5-year-old!
Congratulations to all connections and the Moloney Racing team for all of your hard work!
