Legatus claimed his third-career-win at Bairnsdale on Sunday in the BM 0-58 Handicap over 2200 metres, with Jake Noonan in the saddle.

Settling in the second half of the field from barrier 9, Noonan’s winning move came when he let Legatus work into the race three-wide at the 800 metre mark when the speed upfront slackened, and the four-year-old Preferment gelding proved too strong, outstaying his rivals in the straight to win by 1.5 lengths on the line.

Having been around the mark in his three starts prior this preparation, with fitness under his belt and a confidence-boosting win, we hope Legatus can continue his winning form going forward.

Congratulations to the connections of Legatus and all of the hard working staff at Moloney Racing!
