While the boss was having a well-deserved break and working on his sun tan in Fiji this week, it was business as usual for the Moloney Racing team back home, as they ventured to Echuca on Thursday to saddle up one runner and taking home a winner!

The Uber consistent filly, Ordell, managed to break through for her maiden win, after having placed 7 times from 12 previous starts, and coming off the back of a slick second placing at Sale last start.

With a lovely, patient ride by Nikita Beriman, the 3-year-old settled down second-last in the 1600 metre maiden, tracking through on the fence, before edging out for daylight on straightening. Once the filly by Fighting Sun was allowed clear galloping room, she showed a brilliant turn-of-foot and tenacity to hold off the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra trained, Steinbrenner, by a long neck on the line.

Congratulations to Ordell’s fabulous owners, Julie and Meridy, as well as the hardworking team at Moloney Racing. We’re sure that there are plenty more wins in store for Ordell in the future!
