Saltpeter capitalised on his confidence-boosting win at Sale ten days ago, bouncing back into metropolitan form with a dominant win in the Magic Millions Grand Handicap on Caulfield Cup Day.

In what will sadly be the last Caulfield Cup meeting for Caulfield-trained horses, it was a special moment to get a win on a day that means so much to the Moloney family.

Saltpeter was perfectly ridden by jockey, Jarrod Fry, settling down midfield from the outside barrier in running, before storming home down the outside to win by three-quarters of a length on the line.

Relishing the Heavy conditions, the Pierro gelding also appreciated the step up in distance to 1700 metres, and looks to have found his straps this preparation.

Out of Flokkati, who was a winner at Caulfield back in 2010, Saltpeter was a $200,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase in 2019, and has now earned almost $250,000 in prize money from his four-career-wins to date.

We are excited to see Saltpeter continue to progress this preparation. Congratulations to his connections, and all of the team at Moloney Racing.
