Scorched Earth recorded an impressive first-up win at Flemington on Saturday in the BM78 G.H. Mumm Christmas Plate, putting the writing on the wall for an exciting campaign ahead.

The $90,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling purchase was steered by champion jockey Damien Oliver, who settled the Nicconi filly behind the leaders down the straight course 1000 metre distance. Given a shake up from the 300 metres, Scorched Earth showed a brilliant turn-of-foot, dashing to the front at the 100 metre mark to come away and win by 1.25 lengths.

A winner of the Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic and the Listed Valley Pearl, both over 1200 metres, in her two-year-old campaign, Scorched Earth is now eyeing the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast in January if Oliver, who is now unbeaten on her, gives the nod to head in that direction.

After a winless, yet very solid, Spring campaign as a three-year-old, Scorched Earth has come back in even better shape this time in and showing every sign that she will only continue to improve with racing experience.

This talented filly has now won three races and placed twice from 8 starts, with over $350,000 in prize money.

Congratulations to her connections and all of the team at Moloney Racing!
