Consistent money-spinner, The Regiment, broke through for a well-deserved win for his loyal owners, Julie Sampson and Meridy Taite, on Friday night at Cranbourne.

With 15 minor placings beside his name since his maiden win back in August of 2017, it was a sweet victory for all involved when the five-year-old gelding put pay to his rivals in the 1500m BM64 Handicap, to bring up his second career win from 34 starts.

It was a perfectly judged ride by jockey, Jarrod Fry, who was well-equiped with knowledge of the Hinchinbrook gelding’s quirks, after riding him into third place at Bendigo last start. Fry allowed the gelding to settle down towards the rear of the field off a strong tempo, before circling the field on the home turn and driving him to the line to win by 0.8 lengths.

With a confidence boosting win, and improvement still to come from the five-year-old, we hope that The Regiment can hold onto his winning form as he continues on with his preparation!

Congratulations to Julie, Meridy and all of the hard-working team at Moloney Racing!
