The Regiment continued a brilliant week for Moloney Racing at Geelong on Thursday, landing back-to-back victories after winning at the same track on Boxing Day less than a fortnight ago.

Breaking through for a well-deserved first placing last start over 1500 metres in a 0-58 Handicap, the Hinchinbrook gelding relished the step-up in distance to 1750 metres on Thursday, and was again ridden perfectly by jockey, Jarrod Fry, to win by almost a length.

Settling down just off the pace in the BM64 Handicap, the 6-year-old cruised up to join the leaders before the home turn, racing away in the straight to gain a winning break on race favourite, Paddy Mac, who was held-up to run an unlucky second.

Now with 5 wins and 20 minor placings from 52 starts, “Reggie” consistently runs well for owners, Julie Sampson and Meridy Taite, who bred the gelding and raced his mother, Deloraine, a Hobart Guineas winner back in 2007.

Congratulations to Julie and Meridy, and all of the hard-working team at Moloney Racing!
