Caulfield trainer John Moloney has sustained a broken leg during trackwork on Tuesday.

Melbourne Racing Club head of racing Jake Norton said the 59-year-old sustained the injury while riding, but stayed on his mount despite the incident.

“He evidently has clipped his leg against a very small… on all our track, there are crossings about six or 12 inches wide with rubber flaps on them…he’s clipped his leg on one of those,” Norton told Racing.com’s Racing Ahead on RSN.

“He stayed on, but he has broken his leg quite severely it seems.

“He’s gone off to hospital.

“He didn’t fall or anything like that, but we’ve got everything crossed that his broken leg isn’t too severe, and is recoverable from.
